May Pack Meeting and Spring Campout at Camp Snyder

We are two weeks away from our May pack meeting and Spring Campout. The pack meeting is Friday May 1 at 6:30 PM at our campsite at Camp Snyder in Haymarket, leading straight into the campout, which wraps up Sunday morning May 3.

This one works differently from every campout we have run in the past six years, so please read the agenda and packing list carefully and ask questions.

Arriving

We will not know our campsite assignment until we check in, and we will send the site number out once we have it. You can drop gear at the site, but there is not room for everyone to park there — move your car to the main lot after unloading. Other groups are camping that weekend too, so please unload promptly so other families can get in.

Pack meeting: Champions for Nature

The meeting focuses on the Champions for Nature adventure — natural resources, habitats, soil and water conservation, and recycling. Tigers, Wolves and Bears each have a short video that covers one of their requirements; watch it beforehand and let your den leader know when it is done.

Staying

You can stay for zero, one or two nights — come to the pack meeting and sleep at home, return Saturday for activities, or camp the whole weekend. Whatever suits your family.

Rather than rotating stations, we will run a few larger activities through the day: fishing, arts and crafts, and water bottle rocket launching — plus everyone’s favourite, the campfire program and s’mores. Please bring fishing gear, empty 2-liter bottles to decorate and launch, and any spare cardboard, construction paper or stickers for decorating. We will try to squeeze in a nature hike Sunday morning.

Food

No potluck this time. Friday cracker barrel and Saturday breakfast and dinner are provided by the pack — we could use help with cooking and prep. Saturday lunch and Sunday breakfast are on your own as a family. Please bring a side or dessert to share for Saturday dinner.
